Wellsboro School District Superintendent Donna Mettler welcomes participants and guests Architect Vern McKissick and one of the future students of the Charlotte Lappla School

A Ground-Breaking Ceremony was held on a beautiful sunny day at the Charlotte Lappla School in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Wellsboro School District Superintendent Donna Mettler welcomed participants and guests to the Charlotte Lappla Elementary School.

In his comments, Vern McKissick (project architect and owner of McKissick Associates) recalled his own personal experiences as a student there in the second grade. He feels priviledged to be rebuilding his hometown community elementary school for the next generation of students.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the participation of a group of young kindergarten students in the official "ground-breaking". These students will be the very first 1st Grade class to attend the expanded Charlotte Lappla Elementary School.
