Chestnutwold Elementary welcomes students to new building

November 31, 2006

With the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year, Chestnutwold Elementary, located in the Haverford Township school district outside of Philadelphia, opens its doors to students for the first time. With an open house on August 31, 2006, students, parents, faculty & staff had a chance to show off their brand new building to the community.

McKissick Associates worked hard to create a building in tune with its neighborhood. From the reuse of the stone from the original school structure (dating from 1909) in the exterior design of the new building, the design of multiple levels echoing the homes of the surrounding streets to the color choice for the windows and trim mirror similar features in nearby Haverford College, McKissick Associates paid close attention to the needs of the school and the community.

We now look forward to working on another new elementary school, Manoa Elementary, in the same school district.
