Vern
McKissick was appointed by Pennsylvania
Governor Edward G. Rendell to a two-year term on
the Department of General Services Review Board.
Vern will be the sole architect on the Review
Board, serving with a landscape architect, two
engineers and a contractor. The Review Board is
responsible for selecting firms to be awarded
design and engineering work at all state
facilities, including colleges, when those projects
are funded directly by the Commonwealth.
Additionally,
the Review Board will coordinate with other state
agencies and commissions relative to their needs
regarding design and engineering services.
Gina
Douty, historic preservation specialist for
McKissick Associates, was recently named to, and
elected vice-chairman of, the newly formed
Mechanicsburg Historical and Architectural Review
Board (HARB) by the Mechanicsburg, PA Borough
Council. She will advise the borough council
regarding development in the community. The main
goal of the program is to ensure that exterior
improvements do not detract from the historic
integrity of the district, without compromising
future development.
Melissa
Peiffer has been named Director of Business and
Community Development for McKissick Associates'
Harrisburg office. She is responsible for
identifying and meeting the design, educational and
community needs of both existing and potential
clients throughout the tri-state area. By attending
tradeshows, conducting site reviews, and
facilitating meetings with clients and community
leaders, Melissa is able to provide the firm's
design professionals with in-depth and firsthand
knowledge of the clients' needs which offers a
valuable perspective in developing project
documents and designs. Melissa is also involved in
creating print and radio advertisements and
facilitating public relations activities such as
website updates and press releases. Additionally,
she is the coordinator of all the firm's special
events including its Employee Wellness Program. As
half of, yet another, married couple working at
McKissick Associates, she enjoys being able to walk
to work from her home in Midtown Harrisburg.
