Renovations at Mid-Century Era Mount Union Jr/Sr High Completed

A 1956 School Restored and Modernized: Former Glory + Modern Equipment + Reinterpreted Style

This school was originally constructed in 1956 with its last major renovation in 1964. Its quality construction and materials coupled with excellent maintenance meant that renovations were a viable, practical and economical alternative for this excellent example of a mid-century school.

Many of the upgrades at the high school are designed to extend or replace community functions which can no longer be supported elsewhere. An auxiliary gymnasium was added to provide additional athletic league space and an adjacent community fitness center will be available to the publicly. The new library addition is capable of taking on the public library's collection and programming now that the public library branch has closed. An adjoining computer lab will be able to function as an internet cafe for both students and public library patrons.

The transformation within the school is as complete as a brand new facility. Classrooms and instructional programs were realigned to address changes in educational programming. First-class science labs were created within the existing building. Entrances and grade-level instruction were separated to form independent schools for the junior high and senior high. Lighting and technology where upgraded for every room. Combined with a fresh interpretation of mid-century modern interiors, these changes have given a quality structure a new vitality and should allow this school to thrive for the next half century.
