The New Manoa Elementary School is in the home stretch of completion. Located in the School District of Haverford Township, outside of Philadelphia, this is the second new elementary school for the District by McKissick Associates. Located in a neighborhood setting on a 3.1 acre site, this three-story facility will house four classes per grade level for K-5. At a cost of $21.5 million, this building will hold about 620 students along with 83 facility and staff, including aides, with a capacity of over 920 people. Surrounded by sizeable grassy fields, the site will be accessible to the District for a variety of sports, including lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, and football.
In October, McKissick Associates received a design award from the American Institute of Architects, Central Pennsylvania Chapter for their design of The Fetterman Residence. This project was a renovation to an historic, urban row house in the City of Harrisburg.
An awards ceremony was held in the Fall of 2008 for the Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Awards. For the second year in a row, McKissick Associates was recognized with an Initiative Award - Community Involvement for the Lykens Train Station, Dauphin County, PA. Last year, McKissick Associates was the recipient of three Preservation Awards - Initiative Stewardship for Millersburg Train Station, Initiative Community Involvement for Eagles Mere General Store, and a Construction Award (Public/Institutional) for the restoration of the Hazleton "Castle" Intermediate School.
